The bears had their monthly play party at Steamworks in Berkeley today. As usual, I was not in attendance.

I don't understand why they have to stage this thing on Saturday afternoons. I just can't get in the mood to get my freak on during the day, especially if it's a beautiful sunlit day. Yeah, that's what I want to do. The sun is shining but let's go hang out at some dark bathhouse for the afternoon.

Is it just me? Or does this feel like they're throwing the bears a bone? Hey let's give the old hairy fat guys a special day, but make sure it's not when anyone else will see them?

I get that they wouldn't want to have a special event like this on a weekend night, but how about a weekday night? The Midtowne Spa in LA does their bear events on Wednesday nights. At least it's at night. Of course, the fact that the owner of the Midtowne is a bear lover may have something to do with that.
