Big shocker here. Exodus International president Alan Chambers admits that he's still gay.In an interview with extremist right-wing blog citizenlink.org, Chambers hawks his new book, Leaving Homosexuality. He openly admits that he's still gay. He just chooses to not act on his sexual feelings.
"For so long I’ve heard gay activists say to me, “You’re just in denial. You’re not grasping the reality of the situation. You’re just denying who you really are.” The truth is, I am in denial, but it is self-denial. I’m not in denial of who I used to be. I’m not in denial of the temptations that I could still experience. I am denying the power that sin has over me."
This guy is such a piece of shit. He takes money from conflicted guys who think he's going to cure their gayness. I wonder if he tells them at the beginning of the program that they'll still be gay at the end.
These "ex-gay" groups have done countless harm to the mental health of millions of gay Americans. Not to mention the fact that right-wing x-tians use the alleged "ex-gays" as proof that people can change. Well, the proof is in the pudding. There is no such thing as "ex-gay." Whether you act on it or not, if you're sexually attracted to a man, you're gay baby.

RIP Walter Cronkite
I was saddened to hear of the passing of Walter Cronkite yesterday at 92.Like most people of my generation, I grew up with Cronkite. My earliest memories of him are of his reporting on the Kennedy assassination. As I grew up during the tumultuous 60's, Cronkite was there every night, telling us about the events of the day.
Cronkite became the most trusted man in America. When he turned against the Vietnam war, and urged a negotiated withdrawal, Lyndon Johnson reportedly said to Bill Moyers, "If we lost Cronkite, we lost middle America."
Cronkite retired from CBS News in 1981. Since then, American journalism has gone in the toilet. Not just broadcast, but print as well. It's all about sensationalism now. They don't cover real news. I'm totally convinced that if Watergate happened today, it would never see the light of day. In fact, I'm sure the Bush administration did shit that was much worse than anything Nixon ever did.
Farewell, Uncle Walter. We'll never see the likes of you again. No we'll never see the likes of you again.

Don Wildmon of the American Family Association is going absolutely apeshit because the Senate is about to vote on the Hate Crimes Bill. He has flooded my email with messages. He opposes the bill because a) it will protect pedophiles from prosecution, and b) pastors will be prosecuted for speaking out against homosexuality. It absolutely astounds me that he comes up with shit like this. It astounds me even more than a good portion of the American public believes him. No rational person would believe the Hate Crimes Bill would protect pedophiles and subject pastors to prosecution for speaking out against homosexuality. Oh, wait a minute, I guess I just answered my own question.
I'm not even going to address the pedophile thing. It's so preposterous it doesn't deserve my attention.
As to the argument about pastors being prosecuted, here's a tip for you Don. It's called a hate crime, not thought or speech. As long as you don't take action on your hateful thought, no crime has been committed, so your pastors are safe.
We need a hate crimes law because gay people are being attacked and killed all the time, simply because they are gay. Case in point is the case of Joseph Biedermann, who was acquitted of first degree murder in the stabbing death of a gay man because his lawyer successfully used the gay panic defense. Never mind that he stabbed the guy 61 times. How many stabs does it take to fend off an unwanted sexual advance? And by the way, is stabbing someone for an unwanted sexual advance an appropriate response? If a guy hit on a woman, and she stabbed him 61 times, would the jury let her off?
The simple fact, Don, is you don't want the bill passed because you are a hateful person. You hate gay people with every fiber of your being. Not exactly something Jesus taught. But you forget those little formalities don't you?

I met a daddybear/chaser couple at the Lone Star this weekend. They are in town for a few days, visiting from NY.
Typically, whenever I see a couple like that, I will receive glances from the chaser. The kind that says "if my boyfriend weren't here, I would love to jump your bones." I'm not saying this out of a lack of modesty. It's just that chasers tend to go for specific types, and when I see one with a daddybear who has similar features as mine, that's the reaction I usually get.
But not this time. I watched for the "wandering eyes" glance and it never came. This guy clearly only had eyes for his boyfriend. I thought it was very sweet. And, down deep, I was envious, and wished I had someone in my life who felt the same way about me.

So, all the hoo-hah of the Michael Jackson memorial service is over. I didn't really spend much time watching it. I tuned in about the time Brooke Shields was doing her thing. I stayed around for a few minutes and watched Martin Luther King III give his speech. Then, I was stunned when hateful, bigoted, homophobe Bernice King stepped up to speak. At that point, I shut it off.If you're not familiar with hateful, bigoted, homophobe, Bernice King, she is the youngest daughter of Martin Luther King, Jr. She would have been about 4 or 5 when King was assassinated. Yet, she feels she knows the heart of King, and that he would NEVER have approved of comparing the gay rights movement to the black civil rights struggle, not to mention marriage equality.
Never mind that King's wife and his eldest son have come out in favor of gay rights. Never mind that King's closest advisers have come out in favor of gay rights, and believe that King, if alive today, would never tolerate the discrimination gays feel in this country. Little Bernice King, barely older than a toddler when her father died, knows all. She has organized and led anti-gay marches, organized opposition to any legislation that would provide some form of equality for gay Americans, and she has been very vocal in her opposition to marriage equality. She has been quoted as saying that she knows deep within herself that her father did not march and did not take a bullet for same-sex marriage.
Well, Bernice, let me throw a couple of quotes your way, from people who would know the heart of your father a hell of a lot better than you:
"Gay and lesbian have families, and their families should have legal protections, whether through marriage or civil unions. A constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriages is a form of gay-bashing, and would do nothing to protect traditional marriages." -- Coretta Scott King.
"I don't recall any experience that would put Dr. King in the category of excluding people." -- the Rev. Joseph Lowery, co-founder of the Christian Leadership Conference with Dr. King, when asked what King's stance would be on gay rights.
"Martin Luther King was one of the most tolerant and understanding and generous persons I have ever known, and I never heard him make a judgemental statement about any one's sexuality, except his own." -- Former UN Ambassador Andrew Young and top aide to King.
That last quote from Young is my favorite. I wish all the other hateful, bigoted black ministers would take that to heart.
