I hate turbulence.
Whenever I fly, and the plane hits a rough patch, I begin to imagine impossible scenarios like the wings breaking off and the plane plummeting to the ground.
I always find comfort by reminding myself that these flying soda cans are built to withstand anything. My fears are completely unfounded. The plane could never break apart in turbulence.
After reading the stories of the Air France flight that went down over the Atlantic, I'm not so sure.

I agree, but that's not the reason I don't fly anymore. I used to just delude myself that if the plane when down, I would die quickly and not have to suffer. Not very bright, but I believed it enough to get on a plane. Now I just simply hate all of the hassle, cramped seating and the crappy attitudes of the airline employees. So for the past 15 to 20 years I've be been traveling by Amtrak. WHAT! you say. Yes, and I really love it. My partner and I always get a bedroom compartment. The ride is great, the attendants are so helpful, we dine well at no extra charge. We also have a shower and toilet in our room. We can both travel for about the cost of 1 business class airfare. Now if we could only get to Europe on the train, our lives would be complete.
