We're living in scary times. I try to be optimistic that things will turn around. President Obama's financial people keep saying they expect things to start turning around by the end of this year. But it's still troubling. We're all doing a lot more work with fewer resources. Those of us who are fortunate to have a job, that is. My company just announced company-wide pay cuts, so my paycheck will be a lot lighter. The one thing I keep hearing over and over again is "well at least we still have a job." And, while I'm grateful that I still have a job in these trying times, I can't help wonder if the slaves building the pyramids didn't say the same thing.

What concerns me is the pay cuts would be acceptable, if they prices for necessities didn't increase. However, gas here has gone up 20 cents in the past 4 days. No sign of food prices coming down. I too try to remain optimistic, but it is difficult.
