yet another failure of conservative deregulation....

Federal health authorities are urging Americans to avoid peanut butter products until the source of a nationwide outbreak of salmonella linked to peanut butter can be identified. Over 400 Americans have become ill after eating peanut butter.

Those of us old to remember the good old days, before the repuglican god Reagan swooped into office, remember a time when we didn't worry about these things. You trusted that the food you ate and the water your drank was safe. Recalls of food and outbreaks of food contamination where fairly uncommon back then.

No more. For almost 30 years we've been living with a government that believes no regulation is a good thing. That lack of regulation has brought us to a point where you never know what little "extra something" you'll get with your food.

As I look back on the last 30 years, all I can see is a laundry list of oversight failures. The current economic crisis is a direct result of letting the fox guard the henhouse, which is typical repuglican bullshit.

Thank God this error will be over in 3 days. I can't wait to see George Bush waving farewell from the helicopter on the White House lawn.
