poor baby...

In Oostburg, The Netherlands, a calf was born with 6 legs and both male and female sex organs.

Merry Hanukkah!

Nice to see the administration continues with its stupid ways even to the end.

The White House sent out an invitation to Jewish leaders, inviting them to a Hanukkah reception at the White House.

The front of the card is pictured above. Anything about that card that screams Hanukkah?

Why Proposition 8 Is Unconstitutional....

In 1992, voters in Colorado approved "Amendment 2" to the state constitution. The vote was 53% in favor. This amendment repealed any anti-discrimination ordinances that protected gays and lesbians which were in effect at the time in cities like Denver, Boulder, Aspen, and others. It also prevented any future laws from being enacted.

The state Supreme Court overturned Amendment 2 on the grounds that it violated the equal protection clause of the constitution. It then went all the way to the US Supreme Court as Romer v. Evans. In its' ruling, the Supreme Court overturned Amendment 2.

Some excerpts from their opinion:

"Homosexuals, by state decree, are put in a solitary class with respect to transactions and relations in both the private and governmental spheres. The amendment withdraws from homosexuals, but no others, specific legal protection from the injuries caused by discrimination, and it forbids reinstatement of these laws and policies."

"We cannot accept the view that Amendment 2's prohibition on specific legal protections does no more than deprive homosexuals of special rights. To the contrary, the amendment imposes a special disability upon those persons alone. Homosexuals are forbidden the safeguards that others enjoy or may seek without constraint."

"Laws of the kind now before us raise the inevitable inference that the disadvantage imposed is born of animosity toward the class of persons affected. If the constitutional conception of 'equal protection of the laws' means anything, it must at the very least mean that a bare . . . desire to harm a politically unpopular group cannot constitute a legitimate governmental interest."

"We conclude that, in addition to the far-reaching deficiencies of Amendment 2 that we have noted, the principles it offends, in another sense, are conventional and venerable; a law must bear a rational relationship to a legitimate governmental purpose, and Amendment 2 does not. "

"We must conclude that Amendment 2 classifies homosexuals not to further a proper legislative end but to make them unequal to everyone else. This Colorado cannot do. A state cannot so deem a class of persons a stranger to its laws. Amendment 2 violates the Equal Protection Clause, and the judgment of the Supreme Court of Colorado is affirmed."

It's pretty obvious that the handwriting is on the wall for discrimination against gays and lesbians. Let's hope the California Supreme Court has the courage of the Colorado Supreme Court, and overturn this hateful proposition.

Nepal says yes to same sex marriage

The Supreme Court of Nepal has ordered the government to formulate laws granting full rights to gays and lesbians, including the right to marry. Same sex marriages from Europe, Canada, and other countries will also be recognized by the government.

Must be nice.

Give the guy a break!

The last time I checked, Inauguration Day is January 20, 2009. But you wouldn't know it by the way people are acting about President-elect Obama.

The press is acting like he's already the president. The NRA freaks are buying every gun they can find in the stores. The right wingers are proclaiming the end of American civilization. And the left wingers are pissed that he's appointing seasoned veterans, people with credentials, to his administration. Clintonistas.

The group raptureready.com has kicked their rapture clock to near midnight. They believe x-tians have voted in their last election. To paraphrase one of the writers, "I'm not saying he's the anti-Christ, but he could be." Of course, they followed that up with an appeal for funds. How typical. Why do you need funds if you're not going to be around?

Personally, I think he's just taking his time and finding the best and the brightest to join his administration. He's going to have a hell of a mess to clean up once he takes office.

I guess after 8 years of Bush, Americans aren't used to a thoughtful president who wants to do what's right for America, not what he thinks God has told him to do.

More X-tian Hypocrisy...

A Southern California billboard company has bowed to pressure from right-wing X-tians, and removed a sign sponsored by the Freedom From Religion Foundation. The sign's mortal sin? Asking viewers to "Imagine No Religion." The billboard didn't advocate banning religion or anything like that. It merely asks people to imagine life without religion.

This is just another example of right wing X-tian hypocrisy. These are the same people who have been whining that their freedom of speech has been attacked because they supported Prop 8. Apparently the only freedom of speech they care about is their own.

Well, I can imagine a world without religion, and I'm pretty sure it would be a much better place. Without religion:

1. Millions wouldn't have died in religion-inspired wars. I'm sure Jesus cries every time one of his "followers" kills another human in his name.

2. The World Trade Center would still be standing.

3. There would be peace in the middle east.

4. AIDS wouldn't be a problem because the proper steps to halt it would have been implemented as soon as it started.

5. It wouldn't be OK to hate gays and lesbians.

6. George Bush would have NEVER been elected.

7. Stem-cell research would have led to the cure or treatment of many diseases.

8. A woman's right to choose wouldn't hang in the balance every time a Supreme Court justice dies or retires.

9. All those closeted BYU gay boys would be enjoying a fabulous life somewhere OTHER than Utah.

10. Utah wouldn't exist.

Religion does nothing but spawn division and hatred among the people of the world. That, and line the pockets of every kind of con man imaginable. And, since religion has fought against every scientific advancement in history, imagine how advanced we would be today if religion didn't exist. We would have had a man on the moon 1,000 years ago.

Yeah, I can imagine no religion, and I think the world would be much better off without it.

Was the Prop 8 vote rigged?

I'm hearing whispers that people think the vote on Prop 8 was rigged. Something does seem a little fishy here.

Until recently, exit polls were scrupulously accurate. So accurate that the network newsrooms know who's going to be elected President, for instance, before they even go on the air with their election coverage. All the drama and suspense are for show. They don't want to call an election, and rightly so, before all the polls have closed across the country. But they know who will win. They just keep it to themselves.

Then in 2004, these exit polls became suspect. The polls showed John Kerry clearly winning Ohio, and with it, the Presidency. But when the votes started coming in, GW won Ohio. Something seemed a little fishy here. It couldn't possibly be that the president of the company that provided Ohio the machines had stated publicly that he would do whatever it took to see GW elected, could it? Or that the Ohio Secretary of State, the man entrusted with ensuring fair and accurate elections, was GW's campaign manager in Ohio? No conflict of interest there.

Now, fast forward to 2008. The exit polls were showing Prop 8 going down to defeat 48%-52%, which coincidentally is the reverse of how the actual vote totals came in. Something seem a little fishy here? We've all heard the stories of the hackable voting machines, and the ones which register the opposite of what one actually voted. And those good old right-wing Christian nutjobs still run those companies that sell electronic voting machines.

Early in the evening, the "official" exit poll, called the National Exit Poll, showed Prop 8 losing by the aforementioned 48%-52%. But, at the end of the evening, the poll suddenly switched, showing Prop 8 winning by about the same margin. They interviewed an additional 72 voters, of whom 133 stated that they had voted "yes" on Prop 8. The only way that could have happened is if the pollsters threw out some of the earlier respondents. That does happen in research, when there appear to be irregularities in the answers, but not a lot.

I've worked with market research for years. I know all about weighting and extrapolating and all the other bullshit they'll throw out. But I also know that polling is very scientific shit. And I know that once a trend is established, it's very hard to reverse. To overcome that kind of deficit, the "yes" vote would have required every single additional respondent, and then some, to say they voted yes. Apparently they did.

The discrepancy between the exit poll and the final vote total, along with the fact that the poll and the final results were reversed, coupled with the earlier Field Poll which indicated a 4 point defeat for Prop 8, and the fact that LA ALWAYS votes with SF, but not this time, certainly has me scratching my head.

All the protests going on are fine. But I think we should be raising our collective, fabulous voices and demand an investigation into the results. The oddities require a second glance, at the very least.

Karma sucks doesn't it?

Well, well, well. Word is that "Focus on the Family" is going to have to lay off 20% of its workforce. So soon after they sunk $539,000 in cash and $83,000 of in-kind services to the campaign to pass Prop 8 in California. Kind of lets you know where their priorities are doesn't it.

Now that I think about it, maybe Prop 8 has a silver lining. If getting it passed wounded this hateful organization, maybe it was worth it. Prop 8 will eventually be repealed, either by the courts or through the ballot.

Of course, this is the same group of nutjobs who prayed for a rainstorm on the night of President-elect Obama's acceptance speech in Denver, only to have to Repuglican convention short-circuited by Hurricane Ike. It apparently has not been a good year for them.

Hey Dobson, maybe you should look up the definition of "Pyrrhic Victory." Sounds like you have one on your hands.

You are the hot bottom that came back to my place for some fun after the bars closed last night. You really liked the feel of my Prince Albert piercing. The problem is, after you left this morning, I noticed it is no longer there. I can't find it anywhere, and I'm thinking it might be inside you. Please get back to me. It was a gift from an ex-BF and I would like to get it back for sentimental reasons.

God created Oklahoma to store the stupid people....

Sometimes some random thought will cross my mind and I'll type it into google. Amazingly, I usually get something rather insightful out of the results. Like today. In one little random google search, I was reminded exactly what's wrong with "middle America." Or as Sarah Palin calls it, the "real America."

Years ago I lived in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and I was thinking about Tulsa today. So I did a google search. The first thing that popped up was a myspace page from some guy named Josh, 29, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. And I saw this:

3 Questions For You, America!

Current mood: blessed

Category: News and Politics

1. Has Saturday Night Live, NBC, and nearly every other television and print media outlet mentioned that they want you to vote for Barak Obama because you are so repelled by the associations of McCain with Bush?

2. Even though we all would like to see some changes from the last 8 years of White House leadership, are we willing to use our power to vote without first knowing how much our values align with those of whom we vote for?

3. Have you figured out just how insane and morally irresponsible ardent Obama supporters are? While I know there are the deep intellectuals who would sooner quench their yesternight bar benge with the wrong kind of mocha latte than they would step foot into a Christian bookstore, there are also those blue voters who see this as an opportunity to make this country safe for all the criminals with no moral core

Don't forget to vote. Go, Obama! The whole liberal press and criminal world is rooting for you, knives in hand.

What a stupid, moronic thing to say. Just because I don't have the same world view as you, I am amoral, practically satanist, want to coddle criminals, and destroy America. Never mind that the people YOU vote for have done a pretty good job of dragging America down without any help from us amoral, godless, Obama supporters.

I wonder if people like you really understand what it's like to have a relationship with God. He's your crutch. Your magic wand. You pull him out to dispell all that you think is evil. There is no intellectual thought going on there. You don't engage God. If I were God, I would be offended.

Thank you, Josh, for reminding me of how glad I am that I don't live in "middle America" anymore. And, by the way Josh, it's spelled binge.

Thomas Jefferson on Prop 8

"All, too, will bear in mind this sacred principle, that though the will of the majority is in all cases to prevail, that will, to be rightful, must be reasonable; the minority possess their equal rights, which equal laws must protect, and to violate would be oppression."

"No man has a natural right to commit aggression on the equal rights of another, and this is all from which the law ought to restrain him."

"A democracy is nothing more than mob rule, where fifty-one per cent of the people may take away the rights of the other forty-nine."

"It is very disturbing that the No on 8 campaign continues to challenge the right of the majority to speak on this issue" Andrew Pugno, Yes on 8

I am so sick of the "will of the people" argument. Civil rights matters are NEVER left up to the will of the people, because the will of the people will always come down on the side of the majority at the expense of the minority. The founders recognized this. Many feared the "tyranny of the majority." That's why they set up our system as a REPUBLIC, not a democracy, along with the three branches of government to check and balance each other.

Below is a list of the major advances in civil rights in US history. All of these advances came about through either Presidential fiat, constitutional amendments passed by Congress and ratified by the state legislatures, acts of Congress, or court action. NOT ONE of these advances was put on a ballot. Most of these advances were vigorously, sometimes violently, opposed by the will of the people.

In California, our elected representatives in the legislature have addressed the issue of allowing same-sex couples to marry twice. Our Supreme Court has ruled that prohibiting same-sex couples to marry violates the equal protection clauses of the US and California constitutions. Even Governor Schwarzenegger publicly opposed Prop 8, and is calling for the Supreme Court to throw it out. All three branches of our government have come down on the side of protecting the civil rights of gay and lesbian Californians.

So let's cut to the chase. Marriage equality has nothing to do with parental rights, education, or the rights of churches. You either believe gays and lesbians are full citizens, who are entitled to equal protection under the law, or you don't.

1863: President Lincoln issues the Emancipation Proclamation.

1865: 13th Amendment abolishes slavery in the United States.

1868: 14th Amendment guarantees due process and equal protection for ALL citizens.

1870: 15th Amendment guarantees blacks the right to vote.

1920: 19th Amendment guarantees women the right to vote.

1954: Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka, Kansas. Supreme Court rules that segregated schools are unconstitutional.

1961: President Kennedy issues Executive Order 10925 which mandates that projects financed with federal funds take "affirmative action" to ensure that hiring and employment practices are free of racial bias.

1962: Bailey v. Patterson. Supreme Court prohibits discrimination in public transportation facilities.

1963: Equal Pay Act passed by Congress. Requires equal pay for equal work regardless of the employee's gender.

1964: Civil Rights Act of 1964 passed by Congress. Prohibits discrimination in voting, public accommodations, public facilities, education, federally-assisted programs, and employment.

1964: 24th Amendment abolishes the poll tax, which had been used by many southern states to prevent blacks from voting.

1965: Voting Rights Act of 1965 passed by Congress. Prohibits the denial or restriction of the right to vote, and prohibits discrimination in voting practices nationwide.

1965: President Johnson issues Executive Order 11246, which requires government contractors to take "affirmative action" toward prospective employees in all aspects of hiring an employment.

1967: Loving v. Virginia. Supreme Court rules laws prohibiting inter-racial marriage are unconstitutional.

1968: Congress passes the Civil Rights Act of 1968. Prohibits discrimination in the sale, rental, and financing of housing.

1969: President Nixon initiates the Philadelphia Order, which mandates timetables and goals to increase minority employment in construction jobs.

1971: Swann v. Charlotte Board of Education. Supreme Court rules that busing is a legitimate means of achieving school integration.

1978: University of California v. Bakke: Supreme Court rules that college admission standards which give preference to minorities are constitutional.

1978: Pregnancy Discrimination Act passed by Congress. Prohibits discrimination in employment based on a woman's pregnancy or intent to get pregnant.

1987: US v. Paradise. Supreme Court upholds earlier federal court decision requiring quotas for hiring minorities in the Alabama Department of Public Safety as the only means of correcting the department's "overt and defiant racism."

1988: Congress passes the Civil Rights Restoration Act and overrides President Reagan's veto. It expands the reach of non-discrimination laws into private institutions receiving federal funds.

1991: Congress passes the Civil Rights Act of 1991. Provides for damages in cases of intentional employment discrimination.

1990: Americans with Disabilities Act passed by Congress. Prohibits discrimination against disabled persons in employment, education, and access to public accommodations.

1993: Family Medical Leave Act passed by Congress. Gives employees the right to take time off from work to care for a newborn child or care for an ailing family member.

2003: Lawrence v. Texas. Supreme Court rules that laws criminalizing same-sex sexual activity are unconstitutional.

George Clooney speaks out on Prop 8...

"At some point in our lifetime, gay marriage won't be an issue, and everyone who stood against this civil right will look as outdated as George Wallace standing on the school steps keeping James Hood from entering the University of Alabama because he was black."

OMG, this is 5 blocks from my house!

The Alameda High School Drama department is presenting The Laramie Project this weekend, Nov 13, 14, and 15. And guess who is supposed to be in attendance? Our old buddy Fred Phelps is possibly bringing his band of inbreds to Alameda to protest.

Of course, we Alameda gay guys are not standing for this. They have arranged a counter-protest in front of the school Friday night.

It is possible this may not happen. A spokesman for the Alameda PD says he's convinced that Phelps is going to pull his people away from Alameda so he'll have a bigger turnout at President-elect Obama's grandmother's funeral this weekend. Nevertheless, we should be prepared as the protest is still on Phelps' website.

DON'T GO TO CINEMARK! EVER!

Alan J. Stock, Chairman of the Cinemark Corporation, donated $9,999 to the "Yes on 8" campaign.“ Cinemark is based in Plano, Texas and owns Cinemark, Century, CineArts and Tinseltown Theaters.

Stock is an active moron, I mean mormon. As such, the obligatory tithe from his reported $7,900,000 income would be $790,000 every year.

No more Cinemark for me. Not that big of a loss. Cinemark and Tinseltown are pretty shitty theaters. But, I sure am going to miss Century. I love the one downtown in San Francisco Center, and the one in Daly City

Oh well, I'm a big fan of AMC, so I'll be spending my money there.

This is where we can hit them hard. Nobody has the discretionary income that we do. Discretionary income = movies, travel, dining out, etc.

Payback is a drag queen in stiletto heels, and she is pissed!

Why should I be targeted for expressing my opinion in a country where freedom of speech is a hallmark, is a constitutional right?

That was a question asked by a man being interviewed on KPIX-TV last night. He was listed on a website which exposes people who donated to the "Yes on 8" campaign, antigayblacklist.com. It's funny that he was so concerned about his constitutional rights, but not mine.

To those who are so disturbed at the backlash against those who supported Prop 8, all I can say is "we took a page from your playbook." Consider:

1. The "Yes on 8" campaign contacted donors to the "No on 8" campaign, demanding a similar donation for their side or face exposure and blacklisting.

2. Operatives from the "Yes on 8" campaign hacked the "No on 8" website, effectively stopping donations for a time. God only knows what other damage they did.

3. The "Yes on 8" campaign spread lies about the effect of gay marriage on children and schools. Lies that were debunked over and over, but they kept spreading them. It's funny how "my children" was all you heard out of these people before the campaign. Now it's all about "freedom of speech."

4. Anti-gay scum have protested gay events for years. Go to any gay pride festival, parade, or any other event, and you will find protesters there.

5. Fred Phelps and his crew of inbreds protest at funerals of gay men who died of AIDS, of gay men who didn't die of AIDS, of people who had a gay 3rd cousin, of people who lived next to gay people, of the bank teller who changed a gay's twenty, of someone who ever said "hello" to a gay person, etc etc.

6. And finally, here's a list of just a few of the companies that have been targeted for boycotts by the anti-gay crowd. In most cases, their only offense was offering domestic partner benefits, or having sexual orientation in their non-discrimination policy. Hallmark Cards was targeted for offering same sex wedding cards (not something you are going to see in a typical Walgreens), and Ford Motor Company was targeted for advertising in gay publications. Where's your defense of "freedom of speech" when the shoe is on the other foot? Here's the list:

Dan Savage is not happy since Prop 8 passed. Here's his response to a young man who's worried he might be gay because his girlfriend stuck her finger up his ass....AND HE LIKED IT!

I've dedicated my life to reassuring panicky straight boys that a little anal stimulation won't make 'em gay. My oft-stated position: If a guy and a girl are doing it during sex—whatever it is, whatever it looks like—it's straight sex. And, yes, that includes a pair of straight girls making out to turn on a straight boy, as well as the far less common straight-boys-making-out-to-turn-on-a-straight-girl scenario.

But no more. From now on, I intend to sow gay panic when and where I can. Maybe straight men, who voted in overwhelming numbers for the various antigay shit on their ballots, won't be so quick to strip gay people of their civil rights if they're worried that one false move—or one finger up the butt—can turn them gay. So for the record, breeder boys: A finger in the butt can make you gay, using a butt plug can make you gay, doing it doggy style can make you gay, playing with your nipples can make you gay, fucking a woman in the ass can make you gay, wiping from front to back can make you gay, standing up to pee can make you gay, and watching dudes hump dudes on ESPN—Ultimate Fighting Championship—for sure makes you gay.

great weather for Saturday's Prop 8 protest......

It is going to be a gorgeous weekend for the big demonstration against Prop 8 and the other anti-gay legislation passed on election day.

Be sure to make it down to City Hall for the demonstration at 10:30 AM this Saturday. If you can't make it into the city, there are also demonstrations planned in San Jose and Oakland. Just click on the on the "Fight The H8" logo to the right of this page for more details.

We're making them nervous. Bill Marriott posted a letter on their website, distancing Marriott Hotels from the Yes on Prop 8 campaign:

The Facts About Marriott and California's Proposition 8
Posted: November 11, 2008 4:17:19 PM

As many of you may know I'm a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Some might conclude given my family's membership in the Mormon Church that our company supported the recent ballot initiative to ban same sex marriage in California. This is simply untrue. Marriott International is a public company headquartered in Bethesda, Maryland, and is not controlled by any one individual or family.

Neither I, nor the company, contributed to the campaign to pass Proposition 8. The Bible that I love teaches me about honesty, integrity and unconditional love for all people. But beyond that, I am very careful about separating my personal faith and beliefs from how we run our business.

I am personally motivated to speak now because Marriott was built on the basic principles of respect and inclusion. My father, who founded this company along with my mother, told everyone who would listen: "Take care of your employees, and they'll take care of your customers, who will come back again and again." For more than 80 years, our company has grown and changed, but that basic principle still holds up. We embrace all people as our customers, associates, owners and franchisees regardless of race, sex, gender identity or sexual orientation. Our principle is backed up with a formal diversity program, which we established more than 20 years ago. Our Board of Directors has also focused on this priority and helped us be a leader and a better company. We were among the first in our industry to offer domestic partner benefits, and we've earned a perfect 100% score on the Human Rights Campaign's Corporate Equality Index for two years in a row. Many of our hotels have hosted LGBT community functions and events for years. I am very proud of all of our associates at Marriott. And I want all our associates and guests, whom we welcome into our hotels, to know that we embrace your talents and thank you for your many contributions and your business.

I'm Bill Marriott, and thanks for helping me keep Marriott on the Move.

I'm inclined to give the guy a break. As far as I can tell, neither he, nor Marriott Hotels, donated any money toward the Yes on 8 campaign. I think the argument that he tithes to the mormons from his income, which he receives from Marriott, is kind of bogus.

I've always enjoyed staying at Marriott Hotels, and they have hosted many gay events. I've enjoyed staying at the Marriott New Orleans during Southern Decadence, and the Marriott in Houston hosted Convergence a couple of years ago.

Some would compare this situation to our boycott of Coors Beer. I believe that's apples and oranges. The Coors family actively donates to and works for anti-gay causes. That's a case where there's a straight line from the gay consumer to the anti-gay causes. I see absolutely no evidence that this exists with Marriott.

Let's give the guy a break. I take some comfort in the fact that he felt he needed to distance himself and the company from the Proposition 8 campaign. He clearly understands the power of gay disposable income.

WE Shall Overcome Someday

More great heterosexual lies....

What a class act. Lindsay Lohan, in an interview with Access Hollywood Monday night, referred to Barack Obama as "our first colored president."

It's funny how words in our vocabulary change over time. Not necessarily in meaning, but definitely in spirit.

For instance, the term we use to identify African-Americans has evolved several times in my lifetime. When I was a child, the most horrible racial epithet (you know what I'm talking about) was used in polite conversation without a second thought. Today, that same racial epithet is used freely within the African-American community.

I feel a certain sense of pride in the fact that I never felt comfortable with that word, even as a child, even when adults around me used it without a second thought. It seemed unpleasant and wrong to me. I never used it.

Perhaps it was my latent liberalism that made me uncomfortable with that awful word. Or perhaps it was the fact that one of the dearest people in my childhood was a woman of color. Her name was Clotese. She was an employee at my parents' restaurant. She cooked and cleaned for us. But more importantly, she cared for me. She loved me as if I were her own child.

Clotese is long dead now. But I wonder what she would say if she were alive today, one week after her people voted overwhelmingly to discriminate against gays and lesbians. I would like to think that she would not approve of that. I'm pretty sure she would tell me to fight the good fight until my rights were restored.

this is why we're angry.....

In the Toronto area, two lesbian mothers were attacked in front of a school, as they were picking up their son. The attacker was the father of another student at the school. The attack was witnessed by the many children at the school, including the victims' son.

See the full story here.

Those are a couple of badass bitches. Too bad they were caught off guard by the violence. I'm sure they could have easily kicked that prick's ass.

I'm sure the mormons and the religious right, who are all atwitter about the protests against Prop 8, including referring to them as "hate crimes" and "hate speech," will not use the same language to describe this atrocity.

Someone posted a comment earlier today suggesting that if I support same-sex marriage, I should also support the 19 other types of unions that are also illegal. You know the drill. "If two men can get married, then why not father-daughter, mother-son, man-dog, ad nauseum.

My initial reaction was to state that if you're so stupid that you can't tell how two unrelated male or female adults being married differs from a father marrying his daughter, then you don't deserve a response. This whole argument is a complete red herring, designed to distract our attention away from the real issue of marriage equality for gay people. It's spurious because no one believes, even those who post such garbage, that allowing same-sex marriage is one step away from allowing fathers to marry daughters.

Upon further reflection, however, I decided that maybe this guy did need a response. Maybe he felt it was a legitimate question. I noticed he lived in Provo, Utah, so I'm sure he has been exposed to many of these kinds of unions.

So I'll try to forget for a moment how offensive it was for you to compare our relationships with bestiality and incest. With tongue planted firmly in cheek, here is the post from anonymous from Provo, Utah (in red) along with my responses (in blue):

Here are some current examples of marriages not recognized by most of Unites States.

1. father-daughter - do you want a three-eyed baby? Beyond all the psychological and sociological arguments against incestuous relationships, do you really want your kids to look like the cast from Deliverance?

2. Mother-Daughter - I'm going to have to recuse myself on this one. Because it involves vag on vag action, not to mention familial vag on vag action, I can't even wrap my brain around it. It's just too horrible to consider.

3. Brother-Sister - this ain't Flowers in the Attic.

4. Brother-Brother - it's what I buy Handjob for.

5. Sister-Sister - if the chicks are hot, every straight man in America would support this.

6. Mother-Son - didn't work for Oedipus. Doesn't work for us. Now, step-mother-son action might be a different story.

7. Father-Son - guys love to call me"daddy." I wonder why.

8. Man-Man - no harm to anyone whatsoever.

9. Woman-Woman - no harm to anyone whatsoever.

10. Man-Woman-Woman (Polygamy, simultaneous marriage) - I think I'm going to surprise you here and say "why not?" If a man can find multiple wives to put up with him, go for it. We all know it's just an excuse for you to be the horndog we all know you are.

11. Man-Man-Man - works for me, as long as I'm the one in the middle.

12. Woman-Woman-Woman (etc.) - lesbians would never go for this because they're serial monogamists.

13. Human-Animal - animals aren't people you fucking moron.

14. 1st Cousin-1st Cousin - currently legal in 26 states, all of Europe, Canada, and Mexico.

15. Adult-Child - come on. give me a break. Although this might be quite common in your mormon circles.

16. Child-Child - so totally preposterous it doesn't deserve a response.

17. Uncle-Niece - this is kind of creepy, but a few states, like Rhode Island, allow marriages between Uncles and Nieces for religious reasons among orthodox Jews and aboriginal peoples.

18. Uncle-Nephew - sauce for the goose.

19. Aunt-Niece - is also sauce for the gander.

20. Aunt-Nephew - how many porno films have this theme? Hell, wasn't that a plot line in The Secret of My Success?

21.Man (to himself only) - WTF? I have no idea what this means.

To those who support equality and equal rights for all: Do you support categories 1-21 or just 8 and 9 only? Sounds like everyone is a bigot.

Yes you're right anonymous from Provo. We all struggle with some form of bigotry. No doubt about it. For instance, I have a new found distaste for mormons. I do not, however, have the right to write my bigotry into the law, and neither should you.

A Disclaimer....

Since last Tuesday, gays, lesbians, and our supporters have been taking to the streets in protest of Prop 8. In many cases, the mormons have been singled out as the objects of protest. They don't understand why. They can't seem to wrap their brains around the concept that their church supplied most of the funds and the "grass roots" volunteers for the campaign that stripped away our established fundamental rights in the California constitution as interpreted by the Supreme Court.

Prior to last Tuesday, I couldn't have cared less, or known less, about the mormons. I knew they had some kooky beliefs and traditions, but my attitude was "live and let live." They were not a concern. That was before they actively worked against me, coercing their own members who don't even live here to donate money and time to take away rights that don't affect them in the slightest way.

That all changed on Tuesday. I now understand that they are a dangerous, cultish, religion. I have dug into their weird beliefs and practices, and I publish them here. I believe they have given up the right to be "left alone" by involving themselves in an issue that is none of their business.

You want to know why we're angry? In recent memory, how many mormons in America have been beaten, sometimes killed, simply because they are mormon? How many have been left to die tied up to a fencepost simply because they are mormon? The lies about gays, which are perpetuated by the mormons, along with right wing Christians, dehumanizes us, marginalizes us, makes us less deserving of compassion, and even life in some circles. It makes Matthew Shepard possible.

I think it's important for all of us in the movement to be temperate in what we say and do. The wingnuts love to take stuff out of context, and use it to make it look like we're "rioting in the streets" and targeting mormons for harm. They are even throwing around the words "hate crime," which is ironic since they have fought any kind of hate crime legislation tooth and nail. I personally am not aware of any problems. As far as I know, all the protests have been peaceful, with possibly some angry words thrown back and forth.

I would fight to the death for a mormon's right to be a mormon. I may disagree with you at the top of my lungs, but I will fight for your right to say it. That's what being an American is all about. But, I have the same right, and as an American citizen, I have made it my personal mission to expose the cult-like beliefs and practices of the mormon church, to hold them up to the scrutiny and ridicule they deserve. But, at no time do I advocate violence against their person or their property.

More mormon weirdness......

Mormons are obsessed with masturbation. To be fair, they don't have a monopoly on masturbation obsession, but they certainly take it to a zen level. There was a mormon elder who gave a talk to some young mormon men back in the 70's. The talk was all about the evils of masturbation, and worse, playing around with other guys. This was such serious shit they even published a pamphlet entitled To Young Men Only. I believe this pamphlet is still passed out to pubescent mormon boys.

Hear just a little of the crap this guy told those guys:

"Resist those temptations. Do not tamper with your body. If you have already, cease to do it --now. Put it away and overcome it. The signal of worthy manhood is self-control.

This power is ordained for the begetting of life and as a binding tie in the marriage covenant. It is not to be misused. It is not to be use prematurely. It is to be known between husband and wife and in no other way. I you misuse it, you will be sorry.

Now a warning! I am hesitant to even mention it, for it is not pleasant. It must be labeled as major transgression. But I will speak plainly. There are some circumstances in which young men may be tempted to handle one another, to have contact with one another physically in unusual ways. Latter-day Saint young men are not to do this.

Sometimes this begins in a moment of idle foolishness, when boys are just playing around. But it is not foolishness. It is remarkably dangerous. Such practices, however tempting, are perversion. When a young man is finding his way into manhood, such experiences can misdirect his normal desires and pervert him not only physically but emotionally and spiritually as well.

It was intended that we use this power only with our partner in marriage. I repeat, very plainly, physical mischief with another man is forbidden. It is forbidden by the Lord.

There are some men who entice young men to join them in these immoral acts. If you are ever approached to participate in anything like that, it is time to vigorously resist."

I'm sure this creepy old guy had a raging hardon when he was speaking to those guys about jerking it. What a load of horseshit to lay on those guys. Imagine the guilt they must have felt, and maybe still feel to this day.

addendum: Looking at that pamphlet cover I'm having this vague recollection of running across it somewhere when I was a young teenager back in the 70's. I hadn't come to terms with my sexuality yet, so it was all naughty and unspeakable. The love that dare not speak its' name kind of shit. Anyway I do remember coming across this booklet at some point. Didn't read it, but jerked off to the cover LOL.
