Hmmmm, so notorious homophobe, Rick Warren, is going to be giving the invocation at President Obama's inauguration.

A lot of progressives have been alarmed at some of the appointments being made by Obama. They feel he's leaning too far to the right for cabinet and other officials. I, for one, have argued that we should give the guy a break. After all, he is the president of all Americans, and we don't all share the same view of where we want this country to go. I felt that Obama was making some good choices that would help to break up the partisan gridlock that we so often see in Washington.

But, now we have this. I suppose as X-tian right-wingers go, Rick Warren is somewhat better than most. After all, he does advocate for social justice, environmental care, etc. Sounds good on paper. But, oh wait. There's that little matter of comparing gay marriage to incest. And he wasn't exactly silent on Prop 8. Now that I think about it, I'm pretty fucking pissed.

What's a queer to do? Like so many things about this past election, we have been knocked around by a constant drumbeat of good news/bad news. Now, the president that we worked so hard to elect has slighted us by giving this Walmart evangelical a huge platform. Knowing how hurt we were by Prop 8, it is a huge slap in the face to give an inaugural platform to someone who worked so hard to get it passed.

Why not give Mike Huckabee the honor of providing the invocation at your inauguration? Oh wait, you probably have him busy preparing for his new job in your administration.
