It was hard to be anywhere in California this weekend without running into a Prop 8 protest. By all accounts they were peaceful demonstrations. No violence broke out. But I'm sure the right wingers are telling stories of how crazed homosexuals tried to kill them.
Friday night, thousands peacefully marched down Market Street in San Francisco from Civic Center to the Castro. It was an impromptu demonstration, conceived on the Internet with no official sponsor. They were expecting a few hundred, but a few thousand showed up.
There were protests at mormon churches all over the state. One of the most notable was in Oakland, where several hundred protesters surrounded the mormon church there. The crowd was large enough to block the exit ramps from the CA-13 freeway, and the mormons had to move several services to other locations.
About 3,000 protesters descended on the capitol building in Sacramento.
10,000 marched in San Diego.
And what do the mormons have to say about this? Boo hoo, why are you picking on us? Well, I can tell you the answer, which I read on a comment from one of your own in the San Diego Union-Tribune:
"The church placed itself directly in the middle of a fight that negatively impacted thousands of Californians. It's disingenuous for the church to now act hurt and surprised that these people are reacting negatively."

If you can't see the difference between 8-9 and the rest of them, then you're too stupid to waste to the energy to respond.
