For the fight on Prop 8, the mormons aligned themselves with other denominations who oppose same sex marriage. It's interesting, however, that these very allies don't have too much nice to say about mormonism. In fact, the official line in most evangelical circles is that mormonism is a cult, whose followers are being led to Hell. Let's take a moment to review some comments by the allies of mormonism in the Prop 8 battle. Mormons, don't come crying to me when they turn on you.
From Catholic Answers:
" it isn't correct to call Mormons Protestants, because doing so implies they hold to the essentials of Christianity. The fact is, they don't."
James Dobson (Focus on the Family) on the Laura Ingraham show:
"I don't believe conservative Christians in large number will vote for a mormon"
From Pat Robertson's CBN.com:
"When it comes to spiritual matters, the mormons are far from the truth."
Dr. R. Albert Mohler, President of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary:
"the answer is clear and unassailable. Mormonism is not Christianity"
