More X-tian Hypocrisy...

A Southern California billboard company has bowed to pressure from right-wing X-tians, and removed a sign sponsored by the Freedom From Religion Foundation. The sign's mortal sin? Asking viewers to "Imagine No Religion." The billboard didn't advocate banning religion or anything like that. It merely asks people to imagine life without religion.

This is just another example of right wing X-tian hypocrisy. These are the same people who have been whining that their freedom of speech has been attacked because they supported Prop 8. Apparently the only freedom of speech they care about is their own.

Well, I can imagine a world without religion, and I'm pretty sure it would be a much better place. Without religion:

1. Millions wouldn't have died in religion-inspired wars. I'm sure Jesus cries every time one of his "followers" kills another human in his name.

2. The World Trade Center would still be standing.

3. There would be peace in the middle east.

4. AIDS wouldn't be a problem because the proper steps to halt it would have been implemented as soon as it started.

5. It wouldn't be OK to hate gays and lesbians.

6. George Bush would have NEVER been elected.

7. Stem-cell research would have led to the cure or treatment of many diseases.

8. A woman's right to choose wouldn't hang in the balance every time a Supreme Court justice dies or retires.

9. All those closeted BYU gay boys would be enjoying a fabulous life somewhere OTHER than Utah.

10. Utah wouldn't exist.

Religion does nothing but spawn division and hatred among the people of the world. That, and line the pockets of every kind of con man imaginable. And, since religion has fought against every scientific advancement in history, imagine how advanced we would be today if religion didn't exist. We would have had a man on the moon 1,000 years ago.

Yeah, I can imagine no religion, and I think the world would be much better off without it.
