Buffy the German Shepherd has been honored posthumously by the Humane Society of the United States. She has been named "Valor Dog Of The Year" because she saved her owner from a robber at his Oakland home back in January. Unfortunately, she died after being shot in the leg by the robber. She had a previously undiagnosed kidney condition that was exacerbated by blood loss from the gunshot wound.

No arrest has been made in the case. I hope that guy has met his own grisly fate in the ensuing months.
