Remember those "Yes on 8" ads featuring the legal opinions of "Pepperdine University Law Professor Richard Peterson?" You know. The ads that claimed same sex marriage in California would bring about the end of the world as we know it? That religious groups would be sued for speaking out against same sex marriage? That churches would lose their tax exemption for not recognize same sex marriage? That your second grader would be forced to learn about same sex marriage in school? All lies!!!

Well, kudos to Pepperdine University. Apparently a lot of alums got pissed off that their alma mater was being used in this hateful campaign. Pepperdine contacted the "Yes on 8" assholes and demanded that Peterson's affiliation with the university be removed from the ad. A statement released by the university said "we would like to stress that the professor does not represent a university-endorsed position, as the university does not take a stand on candidates or ballot issues."

So the ads were full of lies, AND the lies were presented by someone who didn't even have the backing of his own university. Kind of tells you how desperate these guys are.

By the way, Proposition 8 has not received editorial backing from ANY California newspaper. Even the conservative papers like the San Diego Union Tribune and the Orange County Register have urged their readers to vote NO on 8!
