FUCK San Bruno!!!!

I guess I do live in somewhat of a bubble. During this whole election season, I have not seen one yard sign or bumper sticker supporting Prop 8. I have, however, seen many, many yard signs opposing Prop 8 here in Alameda.

And then, I went to San Bruno. For some odd reason, I was hankering to throw some money down in a little bit of gambling. So, after work today, I drove down to San Bruno intending to go to Artichoke Joe's Casino.

I say "intending" because I never made it. As soon as I got to San Bruno, I spotted a car with a "Yes on 8" bumper sticker. "Restore Marriage." it said. I thought that was odd considering that marriage hasn't gone anywhere. Then as I was driving through this little burgh to get to the casino, I noticed 3, count 'em, 3 yard signs supporting Prop 8.

At that point I said fuck this shit and I turned my car around and headed back into the city. I will never ever spend a dime in San Bruno because it's obviously full of bigots. And I encourage you to adopt the same stance. If you have to fill up on the way to the airport, stop in South San Francisco. Don't patronize San Bruno!

I live in San Bruno, with my partner, son and one on the way. Luckily for us there are 3 other gay families with children in our neighborhood...but other than that there is a big christian/mormon population- we can't go anywhere in this town without being screamed at by bigots with signs. It's very upsetting for our first grader and for the past month he has been having problems at school with other children making anti gay comments such as " I hate gays" etc.. I think the other children are hearing things at home (obviously) and they think they can repeat it at school. I woke up every hour on the hour last night with a racing heart and anxiety problems because of the yes on 8 campaign. They are taking things way to far with propaganda etc. and are actually hurting families like ours... I can't wait until this is all over!

I too am a resident of the peninsula and last night spend 3.5hrs in the cold against a large group of unruly and rowdy yes on 8 supporters. They had their kids out in the cold and it was just not right.

Though we were a small group our spirits were strong and our group was a grassroots rally. Barely any of us knew eachother but yet we all stood there for the same cause. Lets just hope the undecided saw just how ugly their MOB of yes on 8 supporters got.

keep fighting the good fight!!! and it's not over there are still hours to change the minds of those who are undecided that still haven't voted!
