The hands free cell phone law went into effect today in California. It means you can't legally talk on a cell phone in the car without the use of a hands free device. The odd thing is texting while driving is still perfectly legal. They didn't think about that. Frankly, I would feel much safer with people talking on cell phones than texting messages back and forth.Kids under 18 are not allowed to use a cell phone in the car at all, with or without a hands free device.
While we're on the topic of cars and new laws, it is also now illegal to smoke in a car when a minor is present.
Just another day in the "land of the free."
