New York's governor has issued an executive order instructing all branches of the New York state government to make preparations to recognize gay marriages performed in other jurisdictions, even though those marriages would not be legal under current New York law.
The move means that gay couples married in Canada, Massachusetts, California, and elsewhere, would be afforded all rights and priviledges bestowed upon hetero married couples in New York.
